here’s a few ways to use feeds:
- [update] google reader is now my feed reader of choice
- Opera – tutorial on opera and feeds
- Gmail (settings, web clips) – random viewing of a story/ feed item above the message list
- FeedReader – becomes an icon in the system tray, and starts spinning when new stuff comes in
how I use it: opera for (a lot of) news, gmail for fun stuff, feedreader for stuff I want to follow closely.
a few common ways to get feeds…
from a Blogger blog:
the main post:
– *.blogspot.com/atom.xml
– *.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default?alt=rss
feed on comments:
– *.blogspot.com/feeds/comments/default?alt=rss
from a WordPress blog:
– posts: [url to blog]/feed/rss/
– comments: [url to blog]/?feed=comments-rss2
since then i’ve started to use google reader instead of opera… not that opera wasn’t good, but gReader is better…
fyi: after google reader’s demise i’ve tried feedly.com, but it seems the digg reader + pinboard can better offer me what i need to both consume and curate feeds than any one existing feed reader.
